Fantasysurfer.com 2009

Wasup everyone!  The ASP World Tour 2009 is about to start in a couple weeks.  For the past 5 years we had a bunch of us (people from Okinawa and Hawaii) play fantasy surfer.  Last year my mens team ranked 69th and 14th overall (mens and womens) out of over 21,000 teams, I got as high as 15 on the rankings.  Two years ago I won one of the billabong contest for having the highest score.  They sent me a back pack, hat, and sweatshirt.  Pretty cool prizes for just having fun.  The have a grand prize for a surf trip for the overall winner at the end.  Anyway I am inviting you all to join my clubhouse at FantasySurfer.com.

First register and then enter the PRIVATE clubhouse JoshLacar.com.  The PASSWORD is okisurfaction.

Make sure you pick your teams by Feb 28, that the first contest of the year and its at Snapper Rocks, Australia.

ASP WORLD TOUR

Wow! Its been a long time with no updates…

Like my previous post said, I’m in Korea.  I haven’t gotten a chance to check the surf yet.  Been busy at work.  Also been studying my butt off for promotion, but I don’t know how that will go.  A lot of things going on in my mind and the big thing is my baby that’s on the way.  Sucks that I have to be away from my wife while she’s pregnant, but thank God there’s skype.

I got leave scheduled for Feb 24 - Mar 27 in Okinawa.  I’m going to be there for the birth of my son.  And I might be able to take some shots of The Beach surf contest if it gets rescheduled for Mar 1.  So pray for no surf on Feb 15, haha.  Last years contest was held in Jan so I thought I would miss it, but now I might be able to make it.

Anyway, I was looking through some of my galleries, there’s still a bunch I haven’t uploaded yet.  I’m hoping to upload some more after my big test on Feb 4, then again after I leave Okinawa.

Oh, if you guys get a chance, hit me up on Facebook or Myspace, or both.  Just click on the icons below and it should bring you straight to my page.

Alright, till next time, Josh

In Osan AB, South Korea for a Year (Nov 2009)

Sorry for not updating sooner.  I left Okinawa Nov 19 to go to Hawaii for 10 days.  I watched the Sunset Pro and shot some pics.  I left Hawaii Nov 29 and now I’m in Korea.  This place sucks but I have to sacrifice one year so I can make it back to Okinawa.  I’ll be visiting Okinawa in March for a month (I hope there will be surf).  The last 2 weeks in Oki was very hectic.  I had to move all my stuff on my own (not the military).  Thanks to my wife, brother and family I made it out in time. Before I left Okinawa, I talked with Kinsan (Surf1st photographer) and he asked me if I would be here for the Beach Hotel surf contest in January because he wanted me to shoot the contest for his magazine.  I was so bummed out because I’ll be in Korea.  He said he wanted to ask me first and make me a priority but since I’m not going to be there, he’ll ask Yoshi.  Yah, I’m bummed, opportunity lost.  But next year I’m priority again!  But Kinsan is the Man.  I thanked him for his respect by coming to me first. Anyway, my wife is coming to visit me next week Saturday for 2 weeks, I can’t wait!By the way, I’m still in a hotel for the next 3 weeks.  So when I move into my permanent place and set up my workstation, I’ll start updating the pics again.  I haven’t been checking my email, so I’m very sorry for not responding.Alohaz, Josh

Sep 13 morning session from Corners (Junkyards)

This session was a cloudy and rainy one.  There were a lot of barrels.

Afternoon session from Sep 14 2008

More good photos on the way.  I have about a week and a half before TMO picks up my computer and stuff.  I’m trying as fast as I can to get all the photos I took this year uploaded before I leave.  I going to Korea again for a year and returning back then I’ll retire about 3-4 years after that.  I’ll try to surf and take some shots while I’m in Korea.  Once I get to Korea, I can work on all my galleries.  I will be deleting a bunch of photos I took over the years and only keep the good ones.  Maybe I’ll make a book with all my good shots.  Well, I’ll have a whole year to think of what I want to do before I come back.

2nd Morning session on Sep 14, 2008

I love taking pictures on days like this.  Good waves, good lighting, and most importantly, good surfers.

  •  Kekoa Uemura in Okinawa

  • Shimpei Horiguchi double barrel

  • Tanakasan pulling in

  • Shin

  • Fabian pulling in

So many more good shots of this session, check it out!  And stay  tuned, I should have another gallery posted tomorrow.

Short session at Corners Sep 14 2008

On this day I took over a thousand shots.  Here are a few shots I took of Corners before heading down to Sunabe main point.  Next galleries will start having the good shots, so stay tuned!

Small session from Sep 15 2008

Surfing the Rising Sun 2008

My brother David Lacar, President and founder of Christian Surfers Ryukyu organized a surf mission along with Walking On Water, Christian Surfers Japan, Christian Surfers Australia, Christian Surfers from the U.S. and countless donations from several sponsors.  All the sponsors are on the posters.  By the way, I made the posters myself.  It was my first time doing something like that.  It was a lot of work but everyone including myself were happy with the outcome.  Click the posters below to see the galleries of that event.

The first flyer is of the free surf lessons that was given on Sep 20 2008.  The second flyer is of the Surf Movie Night, also on the same date.  On each of those events, I took a bunch of photos.  Check it out.

Land shots from Sep 22 2008

Here’s some shots from land before I decided to jump in for some watershots.

This is Todd, mission director for Walking On Water.  He’s from Australia and rips!  He was apart of the Christian Surfers crew that came down to Okinawa.

More galleries on the way, stay tuned.
